Eye Socket Orbital Surgery
Before and After Photo GalleryThis 22-year-old female underwent prior repair of her left zygomatico-maxillary complex (ZMC) fracture and left orbital floor fracture. Given the extent of the trauma and despite repairing the fractures with appropriate implants, she still had a persistent left sunken eye appearance (termed enophthalmos). She had difficulty with depth perception and also wished for a more symmetric cosmetic appearance. Socket reconstruction was performed using a series of Medpor alloplastic implants secured along her orbital walls to help increase the volume of her socket and to project her left eye more anteriorly. Notice in the right pre-surgical oblique view how she has a sunken left eye and left upper lid (marked with a black arrow). This is a result of enophthalmos. Notice that her postoperative appearance has dramatically improved. The postoperative photos were taken nearly 2 years after her socket reconstructive surgery.
