Reach out to our Beverly Hills office to learn more and set up a time for your visit.

What Is a VI Peel?

The VI peel is a medium-depth chemical peel that was locally designed in LA by the Vitality Institute. The unique solution is built with a synergistic combination of nourishing ingredients that go beyond your typical chemical peel. The VI peel combines acids (including TCA), retinol, vitamin C, and several minerals for a maximum-impact, minimum-downtime approach.

The formula excels in treating several common skin concerns, from signs of aging to sun-damaged skin. Our patients can use their VI peel experience to see improvements in concerns such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne (and acne scarring)
  • Hyperpigmentation and sun spots
  • Melasma
  • Skin texture
  • Pore size
  • Skin oil production

How Does It Work?

A VI peel treatment will be similar to other chemical peels. Your specialist will clean the treatment area and apply the first layer of the VI peel solution over it. This first layer can involve a mild tingling, described as a light pins-and-needles sensation. The specialist then applies the second layer, which “frosts” and turns white. From there, you are set to return home. You will continue to wear the peel solution for about 4 to 6 hours to allow it to continue to work. After that time is up, you simply wash the peel solution off.

What Are the Benefits of a VI Peel?

  • Convenient: A 30-minute treatment with virtually no downtime. It is easy to see why this is soaring in popularity.
  • Dramatic Results: Even with one or two sessions, patients can see stunning improvements to their skin.
  • Pain-Free: Experience no real discomfort during your treatment. At most, you may feel a tingling or mild prickling.
  • Safe for All Skin Tones: The VI peel was developed by a team with a focus on inclusivity. They wanted a product that delivered empowering results for patients of every skin tone.

VI Peel FAQs

Is a VI peel right for me?

Part of the VI peel’s appeal is how it can address such a wide range of concerns for patients of almost all ages. It was also designed to be safe even for patients with sensitive skin. The treatment can prove ideal for patients who want a gentler approach to rejuvenation without compromising on results.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment involves two stages: the in-office stage and the at-home stage. Expect to spend about 30 minutes in the office having the peel applied. Then, you will wash the peel off at home after 4 to 6 hours (at least 1 hour before bed). Generally, leaving it on for longer (but not past 6 hours) will provide better results.

Is there any recovery period?

The VI peel was designed to avoid downtime or uncomfortable recoveries. Instead, you can expect mild, easy aftercare. About 3 days after your peel, your skin will start to flake off. Resist the urge to pick at or peel off the skin, and let it flake off at its own pace. This flaking process takes about 1 week. Some patients prefer to take time off from social activities until their skin fully peels.

During this time, some aftercare tips include:

  • Use sunscreen and moisturize as instructed.
  • Minimize direct sun exposure.
  • Avoid harsher skin products (acids, retinols, etc.).

When will I see the results?

Your most notable results should appear between 4 to 6 weeks after your VI peel. Depending on your concerns, you may need more than one session to see the full benefits you want. While you will still see noticeable improvements with a single VI peel, a regimen of 2 to 6 peels is typical for most patients. Each visit is spaced up to 4 weeks apart to give your skin time to bounce back from the previous treatment.

How long do VI peel results last?

Depending on the concerns treated, you can expect results to last about 4 months. Maintenance treatments allow you to keep up your results year-round, with most patients scheduling them 2 to 4 times a year. Healthy skincare and lifestyle habits can also support longer-lasting results and long-term skin health.

Is a VI peel safe?

The VI peel is generally considered very safe. However, you will still want to work with an experienced provider for the greatest safety and best results. We consult with each patient to check for any allergies or contraindications ahead of time.
