FAQ & Answers

Do I need general anesthesia for brow lift or eyelid surgery?

For many patients, upper eyelid blepharoplasty and direct/lateral brow lifts can be safely performed under local anesthesia, especially if the patient feels calm and relaxed. If a patient is particularly anxious, MAC (Monitored Anesthesia Care) sedation or general anesthesia may be recommended for the patient’s comfort and safety. Endoscopic brow lifts and lower eyelid surgeries are performed under general anesthesia.
