FAQ & Answers
Why should I get a lower eyelid blepharoplasty instead of lower eyelid filler?
- While lower eyelid filler can be a great temporary solution for some patients with mild volume loss, it’s not the right treatment for everyone. Patients who have eye bags, loose skin, or puffiness are not ideal candidates for filler. In such cases, fillers can actually make the area look worse, exacerbating the puffiness. Poorly placed or overused filler–especially when not injected by an expert provider–can result in the dreaded “pillow face” look.
- Lower eyelid surgery is a long-term solution that addresses the actual cause of your undereye concerns. Rather than masking the issue, lower eyelid blepharoplasty removes and repositions the fat and smoothes and tightens the skin. Surgery results last 10-15 years, or longer, and does not require ongoing maintenance.
