What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can help rejuvenate the face and overall appearance. Our PRP Facial Los Angeles procedure involves using your own blood-serum, by drawing a small amount of blood from your body. This is done right in our very own office using a quick blood draw! The blood sample is centrifuged to separate the plasma, which is then used for treatment. Microneedling with PRP in Los Angeles is an ideal treatment to help smooth fine lines, wrinkles, scars. It can also help increase plumpness and overall rejuvenation of the skin.

What is Micro-needling with PRP?

Micro-needling, commonly known as the “Vampire Facial”, is often performed with PRP on the skin in order to trigger a healing response. A pen-like device is used for micro-needling that contains many tiny needles that create hundreds of tiny channels in the skin. The micro-channels created by the micro-needling pen provide a direct pathway to the deeper layers of the skin. The PRP is then topically applied to the skin immediately following the micro-needling procedure. This is the first step in order to provoke healing and to help speed and intensify the repair and rejuvenation of your skin. We then apply your own processed serum, or PRP to the skin. PRP is used for facial rejuvenation that works by targeting the collagen within the dermis of your skin by using your own body’s growth factors. This helps to create new collagen as well as revive the existing collagen.

Why combine PRP with Micro-needling?

In order for the growth factors in PRP to offer a benefit they need to reach the deeper layers of the skin. Micro-needling is a successful treatment that uses ultra fine needles to activate the body’s healing process and help reduce scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. In doing this it also creates pathways which are a perfect way to give the PRP access to multiple layers of skin.

How is Micro-needling with PRP performed?

A small amount of blood will be drawn from you. While the PRP is being prepared your skin will be cleansed and prepared for the treatment. The injections take a few moments and are only mildly uncomfortable. The procedure is quick, relatively painless, and requires no post procedure care or time off from daily events. Apply before and after the microneedling Los Angeles procedure to ensure that the PRP gets fully absorbed.

How many treatments are needed to see optimal results?

We recommend a series of microneedling with PRP Los Angeles treatments. The series generally should consist of at least three treatments approximately six weeks apart to gain the best results. The microneedling with PRP Los Angeles treatment then is recommended once a year to maintain results.

What to expect after PRP?
  • Minimal downtime- most patients can return to work or other daily activities the same day of their microneedling Los Angeles procedure
  • Expect some redness lasting around 1-3 days following a microneedling Los Angeles procedure
  • Results continue to improve over several months
  • Mild swelling, redness, or bruising faces within 1-3 days after the procedure.
  • Immediately after the treatment there maybe some pin point bleeding and some redness, which is variable but usually subsides within 24-48 hours
  • Bruising is a possibility as the needle is used to place the PRP into the skin

Aftercare:

Keep the area clean even from makeup following the initial treatment session. We recommend you use cetaphil as a cleanser and apply a moisturizer or aquaphor after the treatment for the first two days. You can use mild soap with shower water two days post procedure. Use sunscreen to avoid pigmentation for sun exposure. Massage should be avoided at this time. More aggressive treatment may result in skin flaking as the new skin layer regenerates, moisturizer are recommended.
