Dr. Zoumalan specializes in Botox injections and has performed nearly 10,000 Botox injections. He also trains other physicians across the country through seminars and workshops on how to enhance the appearance using Botox injections. Dr. Zoumalan continues to learn the latest about non-surgical procedures that can enhance his surgery and non-surgical patients.
What are Injectable neuromodulators?
Botox is a type of botulinum toxin, which is an injectable neuromodulator also commonly known under the names Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Botox was the single most common aesthetic procedure performed on men and women in the United States. A large percentage of the users are young women between the age of 25 and 35, comprising nearly 30-40 percent of patients. The increased number of men receiving Botox has also been noted.
Neuromodulators are used to help achieve a smooth, wrinkle-free appearance of the face. Normal facial muscles that involve frowning, smiling, squinting, raising eyebrows, and other day to day facial expressions may result in deeper wrinkles within time. Botox can help soften wrinkles and improve the appearance. Dr. Zoumalan will discuss with you the goals you wish to attain from Botox and he will design a customized Botox injection plan to suits your desires. It’s important to still maintain some function in your muscles (i.e. such as frowning, smiling, squinting and other day to day expressions), and Dr. Zoumalan will discuss that with you in more detail. Botox treatments work by blocking nerve impulses to the muscles to help reduce wrinkles.
Dysport,Xeomin and Botox
Dr. Zoumalan uses Dysport, Xeomin and Botox injections. They are all similar in efficacy and all are FDA approved. The price is essentially the same for all these products. The main difference in these products is in their formulation, which can influence how much dosage is used, how much product is used, and how long after the procedure that a patient will see results. Which product is recommended best for you will depend on each individual patient, and that can be determined at your consultation.
Reduce the Appearance of Wrinkles with Botox
Dr. Zoumalan can also perform advanced techniques with Botox to help you slightly improve your brows to a higher position (referred to as a Botox Brow Lift) so that you have a more youthful shape or arch to your brows. Botox may also be used in treating eyebrow ad even eyelid asymmetries. Botox can also be used to treat “bunny lines” around the side of the nose (most prominent when smiling), lip wrinkles, and to help change the appearance of the corners of the lips as well.
What type of Wrinkles Can Botox Injectables Treat?
Botox can help patients achieve a more youthful and refreshed appearance. The most commonly treated areas are those in which activity influences facial features such as:
- Crows-Feet- The wrinkles that are formed around the corner of the eyelids and are most prominent when smiling
- Forehead Wrinkles- Horizontal wrinkles along the forehead that are seen at rest and during typical day to day movement
- Glabellar lines, or “frown lines”- These wrinkles are most noticeable when frowning. They often occur right where the nose and forehead meet in between the eyebrows.
How Long Do the Results Last?
The typical time that the botulinum treatments will last varies on a few things; the patient, the area treated, and what product was recommended to get the best result. Most neuromodulators will last between 3 to 6 months. To maintain your result, you will simply need to follow up with repeat treatments.
