Orbital Surgery Procedures

The orbit is the bony socket that contains the eye and all of its associated muscles, nerves and blood vessels. When a problem occurs in the orbit of the eye, several symptoms can present. Problems of the orbit may be caused by inflammatory diseases, thyroid disease, tumors, infections, and injuries from trauma. When these problems occur, patients can experience a wide range of symptoms including double vision, loss of vision, pain and swelling. Treatment may include decompression (ie Graves, thyroid eye disease), removal of orbital tumors, or reconstruction of the entire socket (ie trauma).
