Cheek Filler FAQs

Are your cheeks suffering from signs of aging? Are you experiencing sagging skin in certain areas of your face? Fortunately, this is something that can be easily corrected. Dr. Christopher Zoumalan offers non-surgical cheek fillers in Beverly Hills to lift the wrinkles from your face and give you a full, youthful appearance.

But, what exactly is a cheek filler? What benefits does a cheek augmentation procedure have? If you’re interested in cosmetic augmentation, but you aren’t sure where to start, Dr. Zoumalan and his friendly staff of professionals are here to answer some of the most frequently asked questions about cheek fillers.

What Are Cheek Fillers?

A cheek filler procedure is meant to rejuvenate, lift, and fill the cheeks. As we age, facial features start to droop and deteriorate in some areas, making cheeks appear less full. With Dr. Zoumalan’s cheek filler procedure, you can enhance the definition of your cheeks, effectively taking years off your face.

At Dr. Zoumalan’s office, we use hyaluronic acid fillers to give the appearance of full cheeks. Non-hyaluronic acid fillers are also available on a case-by-case basis.

How Does the Cheek Filler Procedure Work?

Our cheek filler procedures are “minimally-invasive facial aesthetics”. This is because we do not require the patient to undergo surgery to perform the treatment successfully. In fact, this is one of the most minimally-invasive procedures available in the cosmetic surgery industry today.

Cheek fillers, also called cheek implants, require a simple 30-minute procedure to be completed. Dr. Zoumalan may use a small cannula, which is a tiny incision instrument, to inject the hyaluronic acid filler into your cheeks. Often times, he may use a tiny needle to deliver the product in order to more effectively create a “lift.” We use numbing cream to make you as comfortable as possible during the procedure. While the procedure is not too painful and does not require anesthesia, you may feel a little bit of bruising and tenderness for a short while after the procedure is done. This is a natural part of the healing process.

Is Hyaluronic Acid Dangerous?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are completely natural and will not harm your body. They are made of biocompatible materials, which means they will work cooperatively with the rest of your body, rather than against it. These fillers are meant to replace the natural amount of hyaluronic acid in your body, which has been depleted as you age. The lack of hyaluronic acid is what causes your cheeks to wrinkle, fold, and show other evident signs of aging.

Who is a Viable Candidate for Cheek Fillers?

There are many patients who are likely to be good candidates for this comfortable, and quick cheek filler procedure. Dr. Zoumalan will accept patients who are looking to enhance the fullness and firmness of their cheeks after they have begun to deteriorate. Those who are suffering from facial asymmetry or a drop in the volume of the cheeks are also good candidates for cheek fillers.

Keep in mind that those who already have full and firm cheeks may not need cheek fillers. If you are showing signs of aging, such as wrinkled or folded cheeks, you are a perfect candidate for the cheek filler procedure.

What is the Future of Fillers?

Dr. Zoumalan is an injector trainer and continues to train other physicians the proper injectable techniques while also discussing the latest advanced techniques in injectable fillers to his peers. Dr. Zoumalan also participates in injectable workshops with his peers to young physicians as a Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
